In short

An account, the work you write, and the questions you ask

If you only read the Bible or browse published studies, we do not ask you to create an account. When you sign up, write, comment, subscribe, or ask Scripture a question, we store what we need to run that feature.

Your account

We collect your email address and a hashed password so you can sign in. We send mail to that address to confirm the account and to reset a forgotten password.

If you set a public profile, we also store a username, an optional display name, bio, location, links, and the avatar you build. That profile is public at /users/yourname. You can change or remove the username from Account. A signed-in session is kept in your browser so you do not have to log in on every page.

Studies and the library

Bible studies you write — title, description, and content — are stored so you can return to them. A study starts as a draft. Only you can see a draft until you publish it. A published study has a public page. Comments, likes, saves, and view counts on studies are stored so the library can work.

If someone likes, comments on, or replies to your work, we keep a notification for you. We do not use your studies to sell ads.

Questions and Pro tools

When you ask a question on Answers, or use a Pro tool (a theologian question, a study summary, or discussion questions), the text you send is passed to our AI provider so we can return Scripture or help beside the study. We use that to run the feature, not to build a public profile of your questions.

Analytics

On the live site we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are opened and how people move through the library. That tool may set a cookie in your browser. We do not use it to sell ads or to build a profile of your studies. You can block analytics cookies in your browser if you prefer.

Payments

LivingWords Pro is billed through PayPal. Gifts on the donate page also go through PayPal. We store enough to know whether a subscription is active and to show it on Account. Card numbers stay with PayPal.

Who else sees it

• Other readers see what you publish: a public study, a public profile, and comments you write there.
• PayPal sees what it needs to take a gift or a Pro subscription.
• Our email service sees the address we write to when we confirm an account or reset a password.
• Our AI provider sees the question or study text you submit to Answers or a Pro tool.
• Google Analytics sees page views on the live site so we can tell what is used.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it for advertising.

How we keep it

Passwords are stored hashed. Drafts are served only to the owner. We take ordinary care to keep the service locked. No page on the internet is perfectly safe. If something goes wrong that affects your account, we will say so.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will note it here. The date at the top of the page is the date of the last revision.
